THE VOSGES VALLEY
The Canal des Houillères de la Sarre passes through a national park. It's the
Lorraine of lakes and forests, a paradise for anglers, stags and birds. Between
the Plateau Lorrain (near Sarrebourg) and the Alsace, the Marne Canal crosses
the Vosges to the Rhine thanks to two tunnels and one inclined plane (a very
clever invention which replaces seventeen locks).
The Lutzelburg valley offers the typical scenery of a Vosges valley , with pine
trees and red sandstone.
You can stop and visit Lutzelburg and Saverne. Your trip can lead you to Strasbourg,
right into the heart of the old town.
