REGION WITH A RICH HISTORIC PAST. The Mayenne, Sarthe and
Oudon rivers offer 300 Kms of navigation. From Mayenne to
Angers, you'll cruise through rolling and wooded landscapes
and small quaint villages and towns with rich historic pasts.
Laval, with its castle towering above the Mayenne, deserves
a stop. On the Main River, you can visit Angers, hometown
of the powerful king René.
On
the Oudon River, you can discover the charming port of Segré and
the Lion d'Angers at the junction of the Oudon and the Maine
River. On the Sarthe River, you can visit Le Mans, capital
of the telegraph, of car racing and aviation, Solesne and
its Benedictine Abbey and also Sablé, where you shouldn't
forget to taste the local shortbread biscuits
