In Italy, cruise with our Pénichettes through all the waterways in the Lagoon of Venice: Sile, Canal del Brenta, Idrovia litoranea Venise and of course the Lagoon of Venice itself. Mooring next to St. Mark's square is an experience you'll never forget. With your Pénichette, you can moor along unknown islands, far away from the big touristic routes.
Closer to nature
In the Lagoon of Marano you will find the Valle Canal Novo nature reserve. Its untouched wetlands ecosystem is unique in Europe for the varying degrees of salinity which apply in different parts of the lagoon. Covering both water and land, the reserve allows the visitor to study an unbelievable variety of marsh scenery, fauna and flora.
Go cruising on the Venice Lagoon and enjoy some of Europe's finest monuments and landscapes. From sleepy villages to historic towns, from island to islet to the furthest reaches of the lagoon, when you're cruising aboard a Pénichette Venice's surroundings display untouched landscapes and picturesque villages. Separated from the sea by a narrow coastal strip, the lagoon reveals itself straight away in all its immensity.

Chioggia Base Information |
Chioggia with its amazing fishmarket is a delightful little town, linked by bridges to the mainland, and the southern gateway to the lagoon. You follow the buoyed channels to the yellow and ochre houses of the traditional fishing villages of Pellestrina. Beyond the Malamocco opening to the sea, you set course for Venice.
The Campanile and the Piazza San Marco gradually appear over the horizon; arriving in Venice by water gives fantastic views across to the greatest glories of the Serenissima, the Doges' Palace and the Basilica.
You continue northwards along a necklace of romantic islands: Murano with its glass workshops, Burano with its quaint leaning tower, an island of lacemakers where on stalls in the charming Via Galuppi you can purchase their handicrafts, and on to Torcello with its ancient monuments. |
|
| Once you have cruised to your fill amongst these enchanting islands, where the gaily painted facades of the quayside houses form a picture in their own right, you can extend your cruise up the canalised River Brenta. Enjoy its verdant banks, delightful countryside and sun-dappled vineyards. Far in the north eastern lagoons, Marano, remote and unspoilt, is at the furthest northern reaches of the Adriatic. Its ancient township, surrounded by marsh and forest, is still home to a fishing community. |

WATERWAYS:
The tides play an important role and the level of the water in the lagoon is generally quite shallow. As this level is not deep, it is very important to respect the buoys and to stay in mid channel. If you do not respect this rule, there is a great risk of running aground. Refloating a boat involves important costs. These are covered neither by the insurance nor by the accidental damage waiver and will be for you to pay should this happen.
Contrary to the canals or tributaries, the breakdown service can only intervene on the lagoon by boat, which means that, depending on the tides, the intervention might only be carried out after several hours and a wait of 4 – 6 hours is not impossible. You should take this into account. Take note that the navigation on the lagoon is much easier than on the Brenta Canal – where the locks are much narrower with a strong current. These locks require skillfulness and at least two agile people to help with the manoeuvres. During your initiation, the instructor will go through all the details.
On the Brenta Canal and the Sile, some locks and bridges are open at set times. Going through the lifting bridges is free except for ‘Torre di Fine’ (€ 20 per passage) which is situated between Jesolo and Caorle. |
