Colection of the Vehicle:

When arriving at the 1car1 depot, the booking voucher, together with a valid driver’s licence must be presented (see also Driver requirements). If collecting the vehicle from an airport depot, please call the free phone number listed on your booking voucher and clearly state your name and booking number . It is essential at the time of booking that 1car1 are provided with flight details. A shuttle bus will collect you and drive you to the 1car1 depot. Please obtain the shuttle bus pick up point details when calling the free phone number.

We are able to take collection of vehicles on Sundays but we are not open for deliveries (except for the Kings Cross Depot which is open between 10 - 12 for the collection and drop of cars only).
We do not operate at all on bank holidays. Click here for UK Public Holidays

Delivery to private address: If your vehicle is confirmed for delivery (pick up) to your hotel, or residential address the following conditions apply:

  • The address must be within 50 miles of a 1car1 depot location
  • Main driver must take collection and sign for the vehicle. If they are not there, the vehicle will not be delivered.
  • Delivery times are NOT guaranteed. 1car1 can only confirm an AM or PM delivery.No delivery on Sundays.
  • Delivery times are subject to confirmation and are only available during normal depot opening hours
  • The registered driver must take collection of the car (be present)
  • The registered driver must present their drivers licence and the booking voucher (see also Driver requirements)
  • For all deliveries a full UK address, including postcode must be given. A contact phone number is also essential.
  • We ask that the renter reconfirms their delivery with the local branch the day before the hire commences. Not only does this enable the branch to acknowledge that they will be delivering the car, it also gives the customer a more precise time of when the car will be delivered.
    If vehicle is a one way, client must drop off at a 1 car 1 Branch - cannot be return to private address.

A full driving licence ir required for a minimum of 2 years.

Airport Procedures:

Meet and greet service at airports. After the client has called 1car1 to advise they have arrived. Flight details must be given at the time of booking.

Out of Hours:
 15 Seater Minibus:
The 15 Seater minibus cannot be taken outside main land UK. (England, Scotland and Wales is ok).
Drivers must be min: 30 years.
All drivers of the 15 seaters must have a licence that allows 15
or more passengers. 15 Seater vehicle will not be given if licence does not allow 15 passengers.
Please check with local licence authority for details.

If a delivery/collection is outside office hours, a $25 + Tax per rental will apply.

Vehicle Licensing Fee

Included in rates.

Congestion Charge

All depots are outside the congestion zone. If the client is wanting delivery/return within the zone, 1 car 1 will charge $5 to the client for the first days charge.

Refundable Deposit

A credit card is required to cover non-confirmed rental extensions, damages to the vehicle, fines etc. Cash deposits are not accepted. At the conclusion of your hire, if the fuel tank is returned with the required amount*, there is no damage caused to the car and no additional charges apply, no charge will be made on your credit card. However, the copy of the credit card imprint will be kept on file in case of any speeding or parking fines that may be incurred during your rental.

*Fuel:
The vehicle will be supplied with a quarter of a tank of fuel and must be returned with same. No refund is given for any petrol over this amount that is left in the vehicle.
Insurance Excess:

Insurance:
The renter is liable for all accident damage and theft, CDW and TP relieves the renter of financial responsibility for damage to, and theft of, the 1car1 vehicle. CDW and TP are subject to a excess per accident / theft (refer below). Driver negligence and non-compliance with 1car1 standard terms, conditions and rental agreement may nullify the CDW and TP cover. Rates also include unlimited indemnity in respect to third party personal liability and property cover, subject to the renter complying with the 1car1 rental agreement and standard terms and conditions.

CDW + Theft Excess
Groups A - DE $500 + VAT Reducible $5 per day to reduce excess to $200 *
Groups FA and above $750 + VAT Reducible $5 per day to reduce excess to $200 *
*Max payable on one hire is $80

Important:
Professional Sportsmen, (Foreign Ministry of Defence Personnel) and Professional Entertainers are not covered by 1car1 insurance policies and must therefore take out their own insurance for the duration of the car rental.

Optional Additional Insurance Cover:

May be offered on collection of your vehicle. If you have taken out travel insurance for the duration of your holiday you may already be covered for some of the insurance offered. Please note that optional insurances are not obligatory. On signing the Rental Agreement, please check all the details of the contract. Any extra payments will be listed on the contract and you are advised to check these costs thoroughly. All extra costs shown and not pre-paid in Australia are payable by the renter. We strongly advise that the renter does not sign the Rental Agreement before fully understanding and accepting all non-prepaid charges. Once signed, it is legally binding and cannot be reversed.

Child Seat:

$25 + VAT per rental per seat. Must be pre-booked prior to collection and are subject to availability.
No Capsules available.

Easter Europe One Way Rentals:

Permitted to enter Boznia-Herzegovinia , Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Slovenia & Slovak Republic. Conditions/additional fees/restrictions apply.

One Way Rentals - Domestic

Free one way rentals within Mainland Britain, minimum 3 days. If less 4 days or less, a one way fee will apply. No delivery/return service available if the rental is a one way hire.

One Way Rentals - International

Not available.
Mainland Britain to Northern Ireland allowed. A one way fee of $500.00 + VAT applies. Not permitted on Groups PDAR, FVAR, LFAR, SVMR.

Driving Restrictions

Vehicles may be driven in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Allowed to Isle of White, Isle of Man, Orkney Island and Isle of Mull.

Dring in Europe / Southern Ireland

Vehicles may be driven into Southern Ireland and selected countries in Europe*, however an additional charge for a greencard and 5 star European breakdown cover is payable on collection. Additionally, drivers must be 30 years or over.

Should you wish to drive your rental vehicle outside mainland UK, a note to this effect must have been made at the time of reservation and again at the time of collection. The following information is required for the issue of a Greencard:

  • Name of the registered driver(s) (according to the driver’s licence)
  • The date the vehicle will leave the UK
  • The date the vehicle will return to the UK
  • The age(s) of the driver(s)
  • The countries the vehicle will be driven
  • Please note greencard charges are for all days that the car is in a foreign country.

Important: Greencards cannot be altered or amended. Alterations require a re-issue and therefore additional charges apply.

Continental Use

Additional restrictions / charges apply for travel into the Republic of Ireland and to Europe.
You must advise the rental company at the time of pick up which countries you will be travelling to.

Eastern Europe

Permitted to enter Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Poland, Slovenia & Slovak Republic.Slovenia, Croatia Additional surcharges to enter these countries may apply.

Roadside Assistance

When you hire a 1car1 vehicle you are automatically covered by 24 hour roadside assistance in Britain. This will provide you with assistance in the event of an accident or breakdown (similar to NRMA and RACV cover available in Australia).

Vehicle Type

A specific car make or model is never guaranteed, only a vehicle within a particular group. All vehicles in a group will have similar engine capacity, size and transmission (automatic or manual), for example, 1.4 litre small manual car. In the rare event of the depot not having a vehicle within your pre-booked group, you will be offered a car from the next hire group at no extra cost. If, on arriving at the 1car1 depot, you decide to upgrade to a higher group to that which you have pre-booked and pre-paid, you must pay an extra charge for the “voluntary upgrade”. The extra cost is calculated from the difference between the prevailing local rate of the two groups and is payable directly to 1car1.

Accidents
The Police and 1car1 must be notified immediately of any car accident, however minor. A report form must be completed at the time of the incident; these are provided at the start of the rental. Additionally, the names of the Police Officer and 1car1 employee with whom you made the report must be retained. Dependent on the circumstances, 1car1 reserves the right not to supply a replacement vehicle.
Damage to Vehicle

Before leaving the rental office (depot), please check your rental vehicle for damage and in the unlikely event the vehicle is damaged, have this noted on your rental agreement.

Should the vehicle be damaged during the rental, the Police and 1car1 must be notified immediately (e.g. glass breakage). A report form must be completed at the time of the incident; these are provided at the start of the rental. Additionally, the names of the Police Officer and 1car1 employee with whom you made the report must be retained. NB: Glass breakages are only covered by insurance when reported to the Police.

In Case of Breakdown

In the event of a breakdown, all 1car1 vehicles are covered by either the manufacturers warranty or AA/RAC roadside assistance. Please contact 1car1 Head Office for approval of any repair work (prior to work being carried out). Repairs en-route are refundable against original receipts, which should be handed over on the return of your vehicle. Please ensure you keep photocopies of the receipts and the name of the person you handed the receipts to. Refunds may take 30 days to be processed.

Amending or Extending your rental

After departure from Australia, if you wish to amend your rental, you must arrange this directly with the pick up and/or drop off location. Should you extend your rental, the charge for additional days will be calculated at the local daily rate. Collision Damage Waiver, Theft Protection and other insurances will also be added and is payable direct to 1car1.

Returning your rental Vehicle Early

Should you wish to return your rental vehicle earlier than booked, please contact the return location. Please note no refund is made on any unused rental days.

No Show

If the reserved vehicle has not been collected after 24 hours of the reserved collection time, the reservations will automatically be cancelled. Please note no refund is made on no-shows.

Returning your Vehicle

Please check the return procedures when taking delivery of your vehicle. Procedures vary from depot to depot. It is the customers responsibility to ensure they know the correct return procedures. If you are unsure of the procedure then ask.

The vehicle must be returned by the time stated on the rental agreement. Should the vehicle be returned later than the time stated on the rental agreement, charges will apply. Additionally, the vehicle must be returned, normal wear and tear expected, in the same condition as when collected. If special cleaning is required, for whatever reason, a separate charge will be made to the renter to cover the cost of any cleaning and/or repair work. Please check the directions to your drop off location when collecting your vehicle. At the conclusion of your rental, please take note of the mileage, fuel gauge and location of the vehicle. Present your Rental Agreement to the counter staff. Any additional charges will be debited to your credit card. In order to avoid fuel charges, return the vehicle with the required amount of fuel.

Additional Charges

All additional charges are subject to Value Added Tax (VAT). VAT is currently set at 17.5%.

London Congestion Charge

Please note that all our branches are outside the congestion zone. The local branch pays the $5 before delivering the car into the zone. The vehicle is then delivered into the zone and the hirer pays the driver $5 in cash or cheque for the first day's charge, and our driver gives the hirer a receipt. This ensures that the first days hire has been paid. The "Notice" given to the customer makes it clear that subsequent days’ charges are the responsibility of the hirer. NB: Europe Cover does not include all countries. These need to be requested,
all countries must be stated at the time of booking.
Pax can not amend dates on Green card once they have left the UK.
To organise the Green card cover, at least 2 weeks notice is required prior to
exit from the UK. To avoid disappoint on arrival, it is advisable for all Green
cards to be requested prior to departure from Australia, however they are paid
for locally at the time of pick up.
