The first class travelling experience
Renault
Latitude packs a raft of unprecedented journey-enhancing
equipment. The spacious cabin and outstanding soundproofing
contribute to an unmistakable sense of wellbeing, while
Renault Latitude’s smooth, powerful engines make
longer drives a particularly relaxing experience.
In addition
to its nicely balanced proportions and generous exterior
dimensions, Renault Latitude’s
front end clearly expresses power, while the rear-end
styling is robust and dynamic. Renault Latitude boasts
elegant yet assertive lines and makes wide use of proven,
reliable and efficient assemblies and systems.
Renault Latitude's generous exterior dimensions (length:
4.897m / width: 1.832m / height: 1.483m) clearly position
the newcomer in the large saloon segment. Its elegant,
racy looks are embellished by a number of chrome details,
including the sweeping arc that frames the glazed areas.
A reassuringly peaceful ride
As the driver opens the door, the back-lit instruments
gradually light up to welcome him or her onboard. The
spacious cabin is extensively equipped and the luxurious
dashboard (which has a specific design in the case
of versions sold in Europe) sets the tone through the
refined materials it
employs and through its harmonious lines. All the driver
aid and travelling comfort controls fall readily to
hand and are clustered either around the steering wheel
or on the broad centre console.
A great deal of careful thought went into the quiet
and comfortable cabin to provide the driver and passengers
with a reassuringly peaceful ride. Indeed, the driver
benefits from several original, fully integrated, comfort-enhancing
appointments. These include a four-mode massage driver's
seat (continuous, intermittent, soft and firm) which
is based on a system of five pneumatic rollers underneath
the upholstery. The precise, soothing action of these
supple rollers up and down the driver's back helps
ease the strain of longer journeys or when caught up
in congested traffic.
This feature combines with a unique air purification
system which enables all occupants to benefit from
the relaxing effect of Renault Latitude's triple-zone
automatic climate control system. Based on the same
system that equips Renault Laguna, it functions in
conjunction with a bespoke air purification system.
In addition to its air/pollen activated carbon filter
and toxicity sensor, Renault Latitude is equipped with
a dual-mode air ioniser which emits negative ions.
The purifying effect of this feature significantly
reduces the quantity of bacteria and allergens found
naturally in confined cabin air. The driver and passengers
can also independently select one of the two scents
exhaled by the diffuser incorporated in the dashboard.
These equipments
are completed by: a hands free electronic key card
that controls the central locking, ignition,
and automatically locks the car when located over a
certain distance away, a wide range of audio systems
including "3D Sound by Arkamys®", as
well as the first class "Bose® Premium" system
with digital audio connector.
Engineering expertise all the way
The precision performance of Renault Latitude's chassis
and the quiet, comfortable ride it delivers promise
to give the model a decisive edge over its rivals.
Renault Latitude employs the same, highlyacclaimed
front suspension layout as Renault Laguna, while the
multi-link rear arrangement is derived from the Nissan-developed
system. The outstanding filtering capacity of this
technology efficiently isolates the cabin from vibrations
induced by uneven roads. Renault Latitude benefits
extensively from the combined engineering expertise
of Renault and Renault Samsung Motors, as well as from
the latest Renault-Nissan Alliance developments. European
versions of Renault Latitude will be available with
a choice of five engines, all mated to sixspeed transmissions.
Safety in the genes
Renault Latitude delivers a similarly high standard
of active safety performance, including large, durable
brakes, plus ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution
as standard equipment. On the passive safety front,
the cabin has been engineered to serve as a protective
survival cell, if necessary, for all occupants. The
package continues with up to six adaptive airbags and
occupant retention systems incorporating pretensioners
and load limiters. Renault Latitude also benefits from
twin sideimpact sensors and dual-chamber thorax/groin
lateral airbags which inflate to different pressures
as a function of the part of the body it is their mission
to protect.
Designed for a global market, essentially outside
of Europe, Renault Latitude joins Renault's international
line-up of saloons at the very top, alongside Renault
Thalia/Symbol and Renault Fluence. It is being given
its first public European airing at the 2010 Paris
Motor Show and is scheduled to go on sale at the beginning
of 2011 in most west European markets.
