*** Bunk Campers will supply full breakdown cover to cover any mechanical faults to the base chassis of the camper van. Any call out charges necessitated by the client through operator error, e.g. a flat vehicle battery etc will be the responsibility of the client.

Minimum Age :

  • Minimum age of 25 years to 75 to hire AERO / VISTA / GRANDE Bunk Camper.
  • Minimum age of 21 years to 75 to hire a ROADIE / RANGER Bunk Camper.
  • Young driver charge applies to drivers over the minimum rental age of 21 to 24 years

Hireable Extras:

  • Bunk Kit - €25 per person, per rental (pillows & duvets, sheets & bed covers, towels, outdoor chair (one per person), outdoor table (maximum one per group)
  • Sat Nav - €5 per day

Camping Gas will be provided on collection. If you purchase additional gas throughout the hire period, reimbursement will be made on production of valid receipts.

Hirer / Driver:

  • Roadie / Ranger Models - Driver(s) must be aged over 21 years to 75 years for rental.
  • Aero, Grande & Vista Models - Driver(s) must be aged over 25 years to 75 years for rental.
  • Driver(s) aged 21 years to 24 years must pay a Young Driver Surcharge at €20 (EUR) per day
  • Driver(s) aged 70 years to 75 years must pay a Mature Aged Driver Surcharge at €25 (EUR) per day
  • Driver(s) must hold a valid full driving licence for at least 12 months (UK Licence) or 24 months (European Licence)
  • Driver(s) are personally liable for all legal penalties during hire period
  • Driver(s) must provide two separate forms of personal identification on collection of vehicle otherwise hire will be invalidated i.e.: valid passport and driving licence
  • Details of all additional driver(s) must be provided on collection of vehicle as above, maximum of one additional driver charged at €10 (EUR) per day

Hire Period:

  • ‘Hire Period’ refers to the dates agreed in the Rental Agreement
  • Rental is charged on a calendar day basis
  • Minimum rental period is 7 days
  • Collection is strictly from 10 am and return is strictly by 4 pm
  • Collection / Return to agreed location at time of booking, non-standard locations may incur additional charge

Out of Hours Collection and Return
Bunk Campers normal operating hours are 10.00am to 4.00pm. There is a charge for collecting and returning vehicles outside of these hours.

  • Early – from 7:30 am - 10:00 am. €50 per hire
  • Late Return – 5:00 pm - 7:30 am. €50 per hire

Please note if you request both an out of hours collection and an out of hours return then this will be charged 2 x €50.00 = €100.00

Sunday Opening
Bunk Bunk Campers are open 7 days a week including public holidays. Due to the low number of Sunday collections and returns there is an additional service charge for collecting and returning vehicles on Sundays.

Please note if you request both a Sunday collection or return and an out of hours service then this will be charged at 2 x €50.00 = €100.00

One Way Rental Fee:

  • There is a one way rental fee of €75 for one way rentals between Belfast and Dublin depots.
  • One way rentals between Ireland and Scotland are available on request only.
  • Bunk campers vehicle cannot be driven outside of the UK & Ireland on the standard insurance.
  • Rates for driving Bunk Campers in mainland Europe are available on request only.

Insurance:
Fully comprehensive insurance is provided by Bunk Campers to the driver named on the agreement holding a UK or Republic of Ireland Driving Licence. The standard insurance excess can be reduced by 50% by taking out the insurance excess reduction option. Windscreen, Tyres and Mirrors are not covered in the standard insurance excess. The standard insurance excess charges are as follows:

  • ROADIE - 2 Person Standard Bunk Camper: €950.00
  • RANGER - 4 Person Standard Bunk Camper: €950.00
  • AERO - 2 Person Delux Camper: €1200.00
  • VISTA - 4 Person Delux Camper: €1200.00
  • GRANDE - 6 Person Delux Camper: €1500.00

Please note that insurance premiums are based on a standard hirer aged 25 years and over.

Special Insurance Cover is an additional insurance option which gives you cover for any damage to the vehicle windscreen, tyres and mirrors. It is a one off hire charge and not a cost per day. €55 per hire

Additional Insurance Premiums:

  • Second driver: EUR 15 per day
  • Young driver (age 21 - 24), available on 2 berth only: EUR 15 per day
  • CDW excess reduction: EUR 25 per day
  • Special Insurance Cover (Windscreen, Tyres & Mirrors) EUR 65 per hire

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW):
An optional insurance charge that reduces the insurance excess. This can be purchased at time of booking online or on collection of your vehicle.

  • CDW at €25 (EUR) per day will reduce the excess for any damage caused in a collision to either the vehicle or third party property by 50%.
  • The hirer will however be fully liable for replacement or repair to windows or tyre damage or damage caused due to negligence. Applies in respect of each claim, not Rental.

Deposit:
The refundable deposit on your Bunk Camper campervan hire detailed in section 1 covers both the insurance excess in the event of a collision (section 5a) and the proper return of the vehicle in same condition as it was let out to the hirer.

  • This amount will be debited from your credit card account immediately and is fully refundable within seven days of return of the vehicle on the following conditions:
    - No damage to the campervan or any third party
    - Campervan returned to the agreed location, on the agreed date and time
    - Campervan returned in the same condition as it was let out, the interior clean including all cooking appliances, waste tank emptied and the fuel tank full.
    - All items are returned at end of hire in clean and full working order as per the ‘Departure Check list’ in the Rental Agreement.
  • This security deposit will be used to fund any loss or damage what so ever to equipment, fixtures, fittings, windows, tyres or negligent damage to the vehicle and the hirer agrees to pay Bunk Campers any additional costs over and above the security deposit value should damages exceed the security deposit value.
  • Bunk Campers reserves the right to increase the security deposit for specific events eg: festivals or rallies

A cleaning fee of €125 (EUR) will be charged against the deposit if the vehicle is not returned with the interior in a clean condition.

An additional fee of €100 (EUR) will be charged against the deposit if the toilet and waste tank are not emptied prior to the return of the vehicle.

Violation of Traffic Laws and Regulations:
Driver(s) are personally liable for all legal penalties and fees pertaining to any traffic violation infringements under the current Road Traffic Legislation applicable in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland

Bunk Campers will hold your credit card details for 30 days after the rental agreement finishes incase any traffic violation infringements are presented to Bunk Campers for your hire period. The driver(s) will still be liable for any penalties and fees received after this period.

Bunk Campers will notify the driver(s) of any speeding or parking fines and an administration charge of £25 (GBP) for each infringement incurred throughout the hire period.

Use of the Vehicle:
During the rental period, the hirers agree that the vehicle will not be;

  • Driven other than in a cautious, prudent and normal manner or used in a manner which could cause damage
  • Driven in a prohibited area
  • Driven by a person under the influence of alcohol or drugs or with a blood alcohol level in excess of that permitted by law
  • Driven by persons under the age of 21 years when renting the 2 berth campervan
  • Driven by persons under the age of 25 years when renting the 2 berth Delux or 4 berth campervan
  • Driven by a person who is unauthorised to drive the vehicle as set out under the heading ‘Driver details’ of the Bunk Camper Rental Agreement
  • Used to carry more persons than is detailed on the rental agreement
    - maximum 3 persons in accordance with provision of seatbelts in a 2 berth Bunk Camper
    - maximum 4 persons in accordance with provision of seatbelts in a 2 berth Delux or 4 berth Bunk Camper
  • Left with the ignition key in or on the vehicle while it is unoccupied (invalidates insurance)
  • Damaged by submersion in water or in contact with salt water
  • Used for any illegal purpose for any race, rally or contest
  • Used to tow any vehicle or trailer
  • Used to carry passengers or property for hire or reward
  • Used to carry volatile liquids, gases, explosives or other corrosive or inflammable material
  • Driven on any road surfaces other than sealed / bitumen roads. Driving is not permitted on the Connor Pass, County Kerry.

Breakdown:

  • 24 hour Roadside Assistance is provided under the hire contract. The hirer may instruct repairs to the maximum value of €75 (EUR)
  • Bunk Campers must be notified by telephone for repairs in excess of this amount.
  • Reimbursement will be made only on production of valid receipts.

Cancellation by Bunk Campers:
Bunk Campers reserve the right to cancel a reservation at the proposed commencement of hire as follows:

  • Named Driving Licence is not produced or valid in accordance with stated conditions
  • Failure to provide funds for insurance excess and caution bond by credit card only
  • Over occupancy of vehicle, maximum 3 occupants in the 2 berth Bunk Camper / maximum 4 occupants in the 2 berth Delux & 4 berth Bunk Camper
  • Address on driving licence does not match billing address. Additional proof of id is required
  • Hirers from outside UK must provide a valid passport and driving licence as proof of id

Bunk Campers reserve the right to refuse to hire to any person, without stating cause.

Cancellation Fees:
Once we make a reservation on your behalf cancellation fees apply. We therefore suggest that you take out Travel Insurance at this time.

Q. How do I book a Bunk Camper?
A. You can price your campervan hire, book and pay for your campervan securely on our website.

Q. What is the minimum age to rent a Bunk Camper campervan?
A. The minimum age to hire a Roadie 2 person campervan or a Ranger 4 person campervan is 21 years. If you are a student, you must be 23 years of age and have held your drving licence for 2 years.The minimum age to hire an Aero person campervan or a Vista 4 person campervan is 25 years.

A. KITCHEN EQUIPMENT

Q. Do your campervans have toilet and shower facilities?
A. Our AERO 2 person DELUX / RANGER 4 person campervan / VISTA 4 person campervan have a toilet and shower. The standard 2 berth camper has no shower and toilet facilities.

Q. Do you have any automatic vehicles?
A. No, all our vehicles are currently manual gears.

Q. Where are Bunk Campers depots located?
A. Our depots are located 10 minutes drive from Dublin International, Belfast International and Belfast City airports. We offer transfers to and from the airports to our depot locations. See website for current charges.

Once you have received your driver details, we will send you the address of our depots.

Q. How do I get collected from the airport?
A. We offer airport transfers. See website for current charges. If you book an airport transfer with us, our customer service team will arrange the details of this with you prior to your arrival. You will be given the depot telephone number so you can give us a call once you have collected your luggage.

Q. What are Bunk Campers office opening hours?
A. Our administration office is open for general enquiries Monday - Friday 10am - 4pm.

Q. What are Bunk Campers depot opening hours?
A. The depots open 7 days a week for rentals during the season. Collection and return of the campervan is strictly between10am - 4 pm 7 days a week.

Q. What happens if I return the campervan late?
A. The latest time to return the campervan is 4pm. The charge for late returns is one day's rental.

Q. Can I collect my campervan outside of depot opening hours?
A. Early and Late collection of the campervan can be arranged prior to arrival. See website for costs.
Early collections are from 7.30 -10.00. Late collections are from 16.00-19.30.

Q. How long does it take for the check in and check out process?
A. Allow 45 minutes for the check in and demonstration of camper van at our depot.
Allow 45 minutes for us to check the campervan once you have returned it to our depot.

Q. How will I know how to use the campervan?
A. Don't worry, lots of our campervan hire customers are first timers! Regardless of your campervan or motorhome knowledge, we complete a comprehensive check in and safety demonstration of all features of the campervan. We will show you how to use the camping gas, heating, electricity and of course how to empty the toilet!

Q. Do I have emergency cover when I am on the road?
A. Yes. You have 24 hour Breakdown Cover provided under the hire contract.

Q. What average mileage does a Bunk Camper do?
A. We get asked about fuel consumption regularly! The good news is that all our vehicles form a modern fleet with the latest most fuel efficient engines.

2 berth Roadie - Fiat Scudo, approximately 7 litres per 100km
2 berth Delux Aero / 4 berth Ranger / 4 berth Vista - Fiat Ducato or similar, 9 litre per 100km

Q. How long does the battery system last in the campervan?
A. Bunk Campers vehicles have two batteries - one to run the engine and the other to operate the living equipment such as the fridge and interior lights. This battery will remain charged for approximately 8 to 10 hours. When you drive the campervan, you will recharge the battery. If you flatten the battery you can switch on the engine to start it again. You will need to plug the vehicle into 240V mains power for the battery to fully recharge.

Q. Can I do a one way rental ?
A. Yes. We have depot locations in both dublin and Belfast. You can pick up your camper in Dublin and return it to Belfast or vice versa.

Q. What do Bunk Campers charge for motorway toll fees in Ireland?
A. You are responsible for paying toll fees as you go. This excludes the Dublin M50 toll fee which is automatically charged to Bunk Campers and payable by the hirer to Bunk Campers on return of the campervan.

Q. Do your allow pets?
A. No, we do not allow pets in our vehicles.

Q. Do your allow smoking?
A. No, Smoking is strictly prohibited by law in the UK and Ireland in hire vehicles.
